I want to buy a reptile but I dont know which kind. I was thinking a bearded dragon. Whats a good/friendly pet

sublime1fan asked:

I just want to have one that wont need too much care and will be friendly. A bearded dragon is my first choice or a spotted lizard.

thanks.

I would have to say a bearded Dragon or a Mali Uro. Hey are both good reptils and they are friendly.

They are good reptiles, but they all seem to be somewhat regular maintenance. Geckos are fun also, and about the same amount of care is needed as the bearded dragon. The day geckos like a bit of humidity.
here is a site for bearded dragon care
here is the day gecko care sheet

If you can try to buy your pet from a captive bred population, it is better for all the animals that are heavily collected in the wild.

Check into a EuroMasticks (spelling?) lizard.
They are awesome looking and they have a wide enough variable to their diet that you may have easier time with feeding and care.

Bearded Dragons make really nice pets and they don’t get huge but make sure you research their needs as far as their living conditions and food go because lizards are really sensitive to the things they need.

I would go with a Bearded Dragon. In my experience they have been easy to care for, easy to feed, and very social.

euromastix are specialized and don’t take to handling like bearded dragons. bearded dragons are good pets so to speak and enjoy handling…but they need special supplements and special uvb fluoresecent bulbs.

day geckoes **** handling and if they get out, can run up and down walls and across ceilings…

other lizards to look at that are relatively easy to care for:
leopard geckoes
crested geckoes
blue tounge skinks

search the web, there are a lot of resources out there.

Any animal you get is going to require some care!

Go with a leopard gecko. They are a good beginner’s lizard, stay small (9 inches), and don’t require UVB lighting. The can be hand tamed if you get a baby and handle it regularly. They have a fairly long life span if cared for well.

Bearded dragons are great, but are larger, so need a larger enclosure. They need UVB and this needs to be replaced regularly.

Uromastyx (correct spelling) are very sweet, but also need UVB. They also need a basking area of about 120. (That’s right – one hundred and twenty degrees! – think “electric bill” and “power outtage”). Can be sensitive to humidity (don’t even keep a water dish in the tank)

bearded dragons are great pets, but another kind you might want to take into the picture is the crested gecko, they are really cool looking, and are easy to care for. they just need any old lighting, heating isn’t exactly necessary as long as you keep the temp above 70 degrees. they are low maintenance too. when they shed there skin they eat the shedded skin so no problem with that. they just need a few crickets and some baby food and there good to go. but i strongly recommend doing tons of research for whatever pet you decide to get
